Child Centered Instructional Practices

Research shows that children benefit most when instruction is child-centered. This allows the teacher to facilitate learning in a rich environment that fosters children's initiative, exploration, and collaborative interaction with other children and adults.

Academy for Little People provides appropriate activities and learning experiences to prepare your child socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively for not only kindergarten but a successful school experience. Taught by Georgia Certified teachers. The only requirement is the child should be four years old on or before the 1st of September and a Georgia resident.

Welcome to Virtual Pre-K at Academy for Little People

We are excited to offer this alternative to classroom instruction while still taking advantage of the wonderful things GA Pre-K and Academy for Little People have to offer.

Once you have completed the enrollment packet, your child will be assigned to one of our GA Pre-K classes. (You may at any time transition to traditional face to face instruction or remain virtual.) Your child’s teacher will email you a welcome packet that will include their daily schedule and other info that has been given to students. (This schedule is for your information and does not need to be followed by your child). On Friday’s you will receive a copy of the teacher’s lesson plans for the next week via email. We encourage you to complete as many of the activities as possible. A packet of necessary materials will be available on Fridays for the next week's lessons.

We have created a Virtual Academy for Little People Facebook page that the teacher will post circle time on. Your child may watch this anytime during the day. The teacher will also set up a time daily to work virtually with your child in a virtual small group. She will also set up independent instruction with your child twice weekly. We are all looking forward to this unusual adventure that is ahead of us.
